The winner of this years Halftime “Survivor Game” was Laurie Hicks.

Thanks to a generous donation by Patrick Cameron of Skamania Lodge, Laurie will be enjoying two rounds of golf and a nights stay in the heart of the gorge at Skamania Lodge.

Until this year the most money ever raised by the Pig Bowl for a family was in 2007 when the Pig Bowl raised $11,700 for the Peter Garland Family.

The defenses were strong for both teams (There were about 7 interceptions)

Score by Quarter:
First quarter: Oregon 7 Washington 0
Second quarter: Oregon 8 Washington 11
Third quarter: Oregon 0 Washington 0
Fourth quarter: Oregon 0 Washington 0

In the last 30 seconds of the game, Oregon substituted Sheriff Rick Eisland in at Quarterback and he threw a pass to Referee Bill Mead for a touchdown, although there was some argument as to whether two hand touch was allowed since he had no flags 🙂

Pig Bowl announcer Rod Runyon said that according to the Pig Bowl rules, the official who scored the touchdown could choose which team he wanted to get the points. Bill Mead chose Washington. Head Referee Bob McFaden then stopped the game to allow Washington’s Place Kicker Melissa Wykes to come on and kick the extra point for Oregon, only after she kicked it Bob Mcfaden gave those two points to Washington as well.

The Oregon team voted on an MVP from the Washington Team:

# 24 TJ Lund (he just happened to be their ringer)

The Washington team voted on an MVP from the Oregon Team:

The Dalles Reserve Officer #2 Keith Howe

(He had two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown)

Until this year the highest score ever was in 2007 when Washington scored 593 points!

Before this game even started the pre-purchased touchdowns had Washington in the lead 793 to 770!

However, before Air Life had a chance to drop off Darth Vader’s Bounty Hunter with the game ball, Washington had jumped out to a 980 to 835 lead!

Thankfully it wasn’t long before the Oregonians stepped it up. Rumor has it that someone from Hood River made the trip to the game saying, I’ve gotta make sure those guys from across the creek don’t win.

THE FINAL SCORE ON THE SCOREBOARD INCLUDES ALL PURCHASED POINTS AND ALL ACTUAL POINTS (AS WELL AS THE REFEREE’S POINTS) OREGON: 1116 and WASHINGTON: 1041
