Hello!! We are the Herrington family. We live in Goldendale, WA and are so thankful to have been chosen for this awesome charity. On April 28, 2013 I kissed my husband Tom good-bye and told him to have fun snowmobiling with his buddies on Mt. Adams and that I loved him, however, he did not come home. Instead, 2 Klickitat County police officers and my Dad met me at the door and gave me the news that he was in an accident and no longer alive. Search and Rescue and Life Flight were called out for him and a friend he was with gave him CPR, but it was too late. He had a fragile neck from a previous accident many years ago and went instantly.
Tom and I met July 5, 2008 and were married July 5, 2010. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend. Our family was our top priority. Tom provided us with a good life with lots of fun and laughter. We have two very beautiful and very young daughters. Dilynn Rose turned 4 on June 5th and Jordynn Marie who turned 2 on May 17th. These two little girls were his entire world. He loved them more than anything and was an amazing Dad. He loved spending time with them. He would play with them, read them books and kiss their boo-boo’s. He was the most hands on Dad that any kid or wife could ever want.
Dilynn will attend preschool in the fall. She loves riding her horse and playing with her sister and cousins. We are lucky enough to live on my parent’s ranch in one of the old farm houses so she gets to ride her horse a lot. Jordynn is the happiest 2 year old around. She makes everyone smile and loves being silly. She also rides a horse and loves the ranch life. The girls are adjusting to our new life but it is going to take a long time before it feels like our new normal. We talk about their Dad often and he will always be watching over us and in our hearts.
I am a preschool teacher and home visitor for the Goldendale Head Start. I have worked there for 9 years. We get laid off every May until September. On July 12, 2013, I underwent back surgery that was unsuccessful. At this point, the future of my back is uncertain and the bills are huge even with insurance. Now that I am a single Mom, I am trying to make ends meet and I am so thankful for charities like the Pig Bowl.
Tom is survived by so many of us that truly feel the loss every single day including the community of Goldendale. We have lived here all our lives and Tom was so active in the community events. He will live forever through his 2 beautiful daughters and all the memories he left us all.
We can’t thank everyone enough for all the generosity we have received. We feel very blessed for the opportunity to get back on our feet during this time of learning how to adapt to our new life.
Thank you all and God Bless!
Kadee, Dilynn and Jordynn Herrington
