Pig Bowl

The following information was written in by Misty in August of 2015:

After being in treatment for over a year, I have finally finished my last cancer treatment. It was not easy at all, and at times I wasn’t sure if I had the strength to continue the treatment.  With the support of my husband, and my dog which stayed by my side, I was able to get through it.

I am just starting my 10 year treatment plan, taking medication to help prevent a reoccurrence, and frequent testing.

My outlook is to focus on each day, and be thankful that I was able get through this.  I’m back to work part-time, and hoping to take a vacation this fall with my husband. Being able to spend time with my husband and dog, as I did before my cancer diagnosis, is wonderful.

This update was received in September 2023:

It has been 8 years that I have been cancer free!  I am thankful that I have been blessed and have the opportunity to enjoy each day with my loved ones (human and four paws).  I’m enjoying traveling more and always looking for my next adventure.  

I want to thank everyone that has and will be supporting the Pig Bowl event. Being a past recipient meant so much to me and my husband.  Having the emotional and financial support of the community made such a positive impact in our lives.

I want to thank everyone that is supporting the 2023 Pig Bowl recipients tonight, you are amazing, thank you for being here.
