The Following Information was written shortly before the Pig Bowl in 2006.
Barbara A. (Shough) Mann is a courageous woman who has battled with kidney disease all her life and is in chronic renal failure. Barb contiinues to work full-time while on dialysis every week and is awainting a kidney transplant. Her determination to fight for her life is inspiring. Barbara was born in The Dalles General Hospital, grew up in Tygh Valley, Oregon and graduated from High School in Maupin in 1975. She has extensive ties throughout Oregon and the Northwest with members in the Shough, the Harding and the Cooper families. Barb is now on the list for a transplant. Transplants are extremely expensive, and costs can be devastating. Even though her insurance company will cover the bulk of the procedure, there are payments for hospital visits, clinics, and medications needed for the rest of her life that insurance will not cover. To help defray such expenses, a fundraising campaign has been established in Barbara’s honor through the National Transplant Assistance Fund (NTAF). NTAF is a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for the past twenty years.
